Roos Juniors (Mods)
The Roos Juniors or Mods (Modified rules) program is the next stage of your child's football career after the Auskick program.
AFL Mods caters for mixed boys and girls in schools years 3-7 (aged 8 to 12 years)
The outcomes of this stage generally would include:
- Understanding the playing positions
- Team Peer Interaction
- Game day protocols
- Consolidation of basic skill set (Kicking / Marking / Handballing)
- Knowledge of modified rules
This is achieved through skill activities and programs for individuals, small groups and teams, and aims to assist development of personal and social skills.
In Mods your child will start training one night a week for 1-1.5 hours (usually Wednesdays between 4 and 6pm however this is dependant on coach availability)
Training will help to develop:
- Ball Handling Skills

- Their football game fitness
Training will usually start at the end of March / beginning of April (at least two weeks before any scheduled games) and all players will be notified of the time and venue by their respective coaches or managers.
Fixtured games are played on a Saturday. The earliest start time will be around 8:30 am for Year 3 & Year 4) and games run for approximately 1.5 hours including breaks (4 x 15 min quarters)
